PEEWEE A Takes a loss in the SHIP
The Peewee A team went all the way to the championship last weekend and saw a 4-2 lead evaporate for the loss. The game was sent into a shootout where the 97/98 Canadian team took the win. A great season for the the young Peewee's and they improved immensely and were a better team at the end of the season then at the beginning

Bantam A come from behind to win over KZOO
After falling behind to the visiting Kwings from Kalamazoo, the hawks roared back to win 5-3. Mighty Spence led the team with a hat-trick, while both goalies split time to earn the win in net. The Hawks showed a lot of composure after a goal was disallowed by the error of the referee. The puck was never covered and the stripes prematurely blew the whistle. The Bantam A team will be competing in a local tourney at jolly and Patterson this weekend and will finish up the season with a trip to Cleveland.

Marilyn Long Celebrates 11 Years in Pro Shop
Marilyn Long shown here making yet another sale this time to GVSU Hockey Alumnus Chris Moore
Ever since Walker Ice and Fitness opened it's doors back in 1999, Marilyn Long has been a huge part of operations manning her post in the pro shop. She has put smiles on many kids faces and always made people feel welcome with a smile and welcoming greeting. Not only is she an employee but a huge Hawk fan as well. She is always asking the participants if they win and is always excited to see a victory at any age level.
Marilyn has always put pride into finding the right equipment for each individual. One of her favorite stories is when a set of twins came into the shop just starting their first year of hockey having no idea what they needed. Long got them all suited up and through some bargain deals saved them 150 dollars then what they were planning on spending.
As Long's co-worker, this blogger has always admired her hard work and we say thank you Marilyn Long for your dedication to West Kent Hawk Hockey. If you have story about Marilyn feel free to post in the comment section.

Peewee A has a tough loss but moves on
It's not how many shots are on net but how many times the puck crosses the goal-line is what decides the winners and losers. In a game where the hawks out shot their opponent nearly by double they lose a heart-breaker in the Little Ceasar's playoffs. "It was a game that we deserved to win" said head coach Mike Slobodnik. "Our kids played a heck of a game."
The Peewee A Hawks will however move on to the next round of the tournament and with the 3 seed in the tournament. Is there anything better then playoff hockey?
